This year we were very proud to exhibit our four and five year old fillies Carmina and Petunia at the Equine Affaire in
Columbus, Ohio in April. They
presented themselves beautifully for being so young and inexperienced at this type of
event. Equine Affaire is a great event to promote our breed and credit is due
to all those that volunteer time, effort and
money to make it happen. Our thanks to Megan Kline, Sherry Lute, Ed Mong, Krissy Wyrick and Joe Hartke. It is due
to
the hard work, dedication and financial support of all these people that we were able to participate in this event.
Due to Alfredo's accident where he fractured 7 bones in his right foot we did not attend as many shows as we typically
do. This year La Amistad
participated in shows in Lexington, VA, Shelbyville, KY, and Springfield, OH, in addition to
the Grand National Show at The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington
Kentucky! This was PFHA's third year in this venue
for the National Show and the facility is appreciated by all attendees.

We were pleased with our showring results throughout the year with some very good placements and the fact that once again
Portal's offspring did very
well, and even though only 3 of his offspring participated at the show, they all placed in their
classes. It started with the successful showing of Petunia
(Portal X Princesa), our first foal born to parents that were both
bred and raised by La Amistad, receiving a fifth place in the Classic Fino amateur owner mares
class. This was a really difficult
class in which 24 great, more mature mares, including past National Champions participated. It was humbling to see great
Fino mares leave the ring while Petunia stayed in the ring for further competition. This was a specially great accomplishment
since at 5 years old this was
the first time for Petunia to compete with mature mares, as well as the fact that we decided to
show her in Fino only 6 weeks before Nationals. Also
congratulations again to Moira and Carolyn Smith and Aleta de Su Casa
(Portal X Angelina) who placed 5th in the Pleasure A/O mares where more than 30 mares competed. In
addition to this congratulations
also to Julie and Randy Crampton who's yearling colt Alejandro (Portal X Exquisita) placed third in the Bella Forma yearling
colts and fifth in the Breeder Sweepstakes.
